Sea World Makes Me Sick

Mom Among Chaos
My family and I visited Sea World twice during April of 2012.  My daughter loved it so much we ended up going back during our trip.  If I had only known then what I know now, I would have never visited.

I looked back through all of my photos expecting to see Tilikum, but I didn't have any luck.  You see, Tilikum has killed 3 humans and still performs at Sea World.  So, I did some research to find out why he wasn't in my pictures.  I mostly found pictures of mother whales with their babies.  Most of which are Tilikum's children.

Trainer Dawn Brancheau was killed in February of 2010.  Sea World claimed that she was pulled in by her ponytail and drowned to death, but according to the autopsy she had severe wounds all over her body.  Sea World does their best to cover up the facts, in my opinion.

Tilikum returned to performing on March of 2011.  I'm thinking he probably was performing when I went, but I must have missed the picture.  I'm sickened to say that when Tilikum returned to performing he received a standing ovation.  What is wrong with people?  This killer whale killed because he isn't living in the conditions he was meant to live in.

Did you know that killer whales stay with the mother their whole lives?  Lots of these whales at Sea World have babies and Sea World doesn't like how these babies are performing and send the baby away.  As a mother can you imagine having your baby ripped away from you?

Most of the information I learned came from a movie on Netflix called Blackfish. I highly, highly recommend this movie.  Above is a snippet.

I'm just sad that these whales can't live the life that God intended for them.  Sea World can bring in plenty of money being more humane.  I don't doubt that these animals are cared for, but it's not what nature intended.
