2013 HILTON HHONORS SKATE AMERICA

Skate America, the first of six stops on the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, will take place Oct. 18-20, at Joe Louis Arena. Team USA will be headlined by 2010 Olympic champion Evan Lysacek, who will compete in his first Grand Prix event since 2009, and reigning World and Skate America ice dance champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Tickets are available to all five ticketed sessions, including the Smucker’s Skating Spectacular, an exhibition following the competition.

The top five finishers in each discipline perform show programs just for you…no judges, no rules and plenty of sizzle make up this high energy two-hour spectacular!

Skate America will feature three days of competition in ladies, men’s, pairs and ice dance. The field of competitors will include 52 world-class athletes, some of whom will compete at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The international field features 2010 Olympic ladies silver medalist Mao Asada and men’s bronze medalist Daisuke Takahashi of Japan, as well as 2013 World pairs champions Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov of Russia. Davis and White hail from the Detroit area and currently train in Canton, Mich., with coach Marina Zoueva. Davis and White are 2010 Olympic silver medalists and five-time reigning U.S. champions. They will compete for their fourth consecutive Skate America title in October. Past Skate America titlists include five-time World champion and two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan and Olympic champions Kristi Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton and Lysacek.
NBC will kick-off its season-long coverage of the ISU Grand Prix Series with a live broadcast at Skate America from 4-6 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, Oct. 20. Icenetwork.com will stream live coverage of the entire Grand Prix Series on a subscription basis. NBC will carry same-weekend coverage of the remaining Grand Prix events, while Universal Sports will broadcast live and delayed coverage throughout the Grand Prix season.
