AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Sept. 28, 2015 – Merlin Entertainments, the world’s second-largest visitor attraction operator, celebrated the beginning of construction on LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Michigan with a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, Sept. 28, at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets.
“LEGOLAND Discovery Center will be a 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction featuring more than one million LEGO bricks and themed exhibits including a 4D cinema, two interactive rides, large soft play areas and a uniquely Michigan-themed MINILAND display,” said LEGOLAND Discovery Center Michigan’s General Manager Hayley Anderson. “We can’t wait to open our doors to families from Michigan and beyond to enjoy amazing LEGO® play experiences that power creativity and learning.”
“Merlin Entertainment’s SEA LIFE Michigan Aquarium has been a great addition to Great Lakes Crossing Outlets since it opened in January, so we are absolutely thrilled that the company has decided to introduce another one of its world-class attractions here,” added Steve Berlow, General Manager of Great Lakes Crossing Outlets—The Taubman Company.
Remarks were also given by:
·       Matthew A. Gibb, Deputy County Executive, Oakland County
