Life Begins at the End of Your Comfort Zone

Did you know that life begins at the end of our comfort zone? We've all been there before, the moment when we must take a step out of our "comfortable space." For most of us, it's very uncomfortable, and we fight every step of the way. Change is a natural part of life. It's constantly happening. The earth doesn't stay the same. My daughter Keira asked, "why are the clouds always moving"?  I responded, "nothing stays the same, life is always moving, and changing. It was meant to be that way."

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!

If life begins at the end of our comfort zone, maybe we all need to take giant leaps in life and not baby steps. I like being in my "comfort zone." I love it in fact, but I know, deep down, it's time to move on. Sometimes, we hang on to tiny threads of hope, instead of facing new possibilities and broadening our horizons.

I suffer from anxiety. My oldest daughter also deals with it. My daughter's therapist simply tells her when she is anxious and at the end of her comfort zone to push forward and do it anyways. For awhile she was afraid to leave me at all. For some reason, she thought something would happen to me while she was at school. She did just what her therapist advised and has been doing fantastic. If we all could be a bit braver...life begins at the end of our comfort zone.

Stepping out of my comfort zone has always been hard for me. Now, I don't give myself a choice. I force myself to do what I fear, and I can think of a million excuses why not to do something.  Also, I have learned that relying on my faith in God helps me through these moments. I usually can remind myself that I'm not alone. My Lord is always with me.

So today, I encourage you to take a leap out of the normal, smile at a stranger, pick up a piece of trash, make that move across the country, because life begins at the end of our comfort zone.
