Buying a new car is a HUGE decision. It is one that you need to put quite a bit of thought into. Six months ago, I purchased a new mini-van even though I was dead set on buying one because I've already had two. How could I possibly end up with another mom-mobile? What to Consider When Buying a Car

1. The number one thing to consider when purchasing a car is what you can afford. Does it work better for your budget to buy or lease? Can you afford a new car or would an older car fit your family's budget?
2. Consider the size of your family including pets and friends that typically tag along. We have two pets and a beach house that we rent out, so I had to consider what I'm usually hauling around with me. 
3. How many miles do you typically drive in a year? This is another important consideration when purchasing a vehicle. I usually average 12,000 miles a year on my cars which doesn't work well with a lease. So, it was cost effective for me to purchase instead of rent.
4. How long do you plan to keep the vehicle? This is another important factor. I generally use my mini-van for 5-7 years, and then I start feeling like I need something newer. Safety is a top priority in my family.
