5 Things on Friday 2/19/21

My days kind of blur together right now. I bet it's the same for a bunch of people right now. So, grab a cup of joe, and let's catch up.

What I've been up to this week:

1. I finished reading the book When We Were Vikings by Andrew David MacDonald. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. It's about a girl that is born with fetal alcohol syndrome. I really enjoyed the story that was told in her voice—also, all of the challenges she faced and what she overcame. There is lots of bad language and some uncomfortable topics, but it was good, and I loved the story's moral.

2. I've had to stop weight lifting and focus on healing my body. It sucks, and it's driving me nutty. I have been doing yoga and getting massages to heal my lower back and hamstrings. Also, I've had to learn to sleep on my back to relieve the pressure. I'm a side sleeper, so it hasn't been easy.

3. The girls have been taking silks lessons at Aerial Dragonfly in Ferndale. I've been so happy to get them out of the house and doing something good for them mentally and physically. They're so strong. I can't believe how well they do. The very first class, they both were flipping upside down and letting go.

4. I booked my long-awaited hair appointment this week. I've been giving gray hair a try. I made it nine months the first time before I messed it up with Overtone and ended up dying it. This time I'm about 6 months in. I've been waiting for my hair to grow so my hairstylist can see my natural hair pattern and match it to the rest of my hair. I know it won't be exact, but it will make my hair grow out so much easier. Right now, my hair is about 1/3 grown out. My natural hair color is a metal color. I sure hope I like it.

5. Last weekend Matt and I went up north for Valentine's weekend. We met up with some friends and had dinner at the Cadillac House. The Cadillac House was beautiful, but the food was just okay. I'm not sure I would go back.
