Music of Star Wars Performed by DSO Review

Last night my husband and I attended the Detroit Symphony Orchestra plays Star Wars at the Meadow Brook Amphitheater. Meadow Brook is located inside Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. I've really missed live performances, and the weather and the outdoor venue made the night magical.

"Experience the music of Star Wars like never before when the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) takes you to a galaxy far, far away at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre on the campus of Oakland University on Friday, August 13, 2021, at 7:30 p.m.

Conductor Steven Reineke will lead the orchestra in a brand-new program that includes music from throughout the Skywalker Saga and the two anthology films, Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story, all in chronological order. Don’t be a “stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder” and join us for this incredible concert. In the immortal words of Master Yoda, “Do, or do not. There is no try.”

The music of Star Wars was written by famed American composer John Williams and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra for all six feature films from 1977 to 2005. From the “Main Title" from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope to the ominous “The Imperial March” associated with Darth Vader, fans will be taken to a galaxy far, far away rekindling memories of their favorite scenes as well as recurring, individual themes and battles that took place throughout the Star Wars saga films."

The DSO gave an extraordinary performance playing the music from the movies. When they started playing the main Star Wars theme song, my husband had to show me he had the chills from being moved by the music.

My favorite song was the Imperial March. I call it the Darth Vader song. I've always had a thing for Darth. Yes, I know I'm weird.

Seeing this live event made me realize how much I love our Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and I really need to make a point of attending more of their shows!

We both loved the performance. We both gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
