The So-Called Celebrity Stitch Fix

My husband, Matt, taped my Christmas gift opening ceremony, but I looked way too rough to share it with all of you, so I will tell you the story instead. It's a good one!

One of our favorite shows we watch together is "The Goldbergs". I grew up in the 80's, so I love seeing all of the memorabilia.  I love the mom on the show the most. She is played by Wendi McClendon-Covey. She is hilarious, over-bearing, loving, and into her kids' business big time.

If you never have seen the show, read below for more information.

Before there were parenting blogs, trophies for showing up, and peanut allergies, there was a simpler time called the 80's. For geeky and movie obsessed youngest child Adam (Sean Giambrone), these were his wonder years, and he faced them armed with a video camera to capture all the crazy. The Goldbergs are a loving family like any other -- just with a lot more yelling. Mom Beverly (Wendi McClendon-Covey) is a classic "smother," an overbearing, overprotective matriarch who loves her delicious kids, but still rules this brood with 100% authority and zero sense of boundaries. Dad Murray (Jeff Garlin) is gruff and sometimes oblivious, parenting with half his attention span, but all of his heart. Sister Erica (Hayley Orrantia) is popular and terrifying, doing her best to cover up that she's the smartest of the clan. Barry (Troy Gentile) is a passionate dreamer, who maybe dreams a little too big and who always gets the short end of the stick. Adam (Sean Giambrone) is the youngest, a camera-wielding future director who’s navigating first love and growing up with his family. Rounding out the family is beloved grandfather Al "Pops" Solomon (George Segal), the wild man of the clan, a shameless Don Juan who’s learning as much from his family as he teaches them. The Goldbergs stars Wendi McLendon-Covey (Bridesmaids) as Beverly Goldberg, Patton Oswalt (Ratatouille) as adult Adam Goldberg, Sean Giambrone as Adam Goldberg, Troy Gentile (Good Luck Chuck) as Barry Goldberg, Hayley Orrantia (The X Factor) as Erica Goldberg, with George Segal (Just Shoot Me) as Pops Solomon and Jeff Garlin (Curb Your Enthusiasm) as Murray Goldberg. The Goldbergs is written and executive-produced by Adam F. Goldberg (Breaking In, Fanboys) and also executive-produced by Doug Robinson, Seth Gordon, Alex Barnow and Marc Firek. The Goldbergs is from Adam Sandler’s production company, Happy Madison, and is produced by Sony Pictures Television. It is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format with a 5.1 channel surround sound.

The mom (Beverly) is all into the big sweaters from the 80's. You know the ones with the huge shoulder pads. They're usually over-sized and long. Here is what the card that was attached to my gift read.

Hi Crystal,
I'm your surprise Christmas celebrity Stitch Fix designer. The first piece I picked out is timeless Christmas fashion, something that will say "ah" at any function you attend. Now this type of fashion never goes out of style, so there is no returning it, not that you would want to, right, it will make you look like a million bucks. The second piece is a little more subdued, casual wear for when you feel like staying home with the fam, or blending in at a low-key event. I just hope you don't think it's too subdued, I really went out on a limb because I know you love this color.

OK, now that your eyes are super sore and you have all the laughter out. Just to let you know, I'm keeping the Christmas sweater, for the next ugly sweater contest I go to. It is so long that I might make it a dress with some crazy stockings. That's how I roll.

On another note, I love to laugh. I thought this gift was very well thought-out because a lot of effort was put in it. Of course, this wasn't my real Christmas present. Santa would have been in trouble otherwise.

PS. This is not a real Stitch Fix!
